Boardwalk Blues: What to Do When It’s Too Hot, Too Crowded, or Too Much Rain?!

If you’re planning a trip to Myrtle Beach and the Boardwalk is too crowded or it’s raining, don’t despair – there are plenty of other great things to do! Here are some of our favorite activities in Myrtle Beach to keep you entertained no matter the weather.

  • Hit the beach anyway: Even if it’s raining, the beach is still open and there’s plenty to do. Take a stroll along the shoreline, build a sandcastle, or just relax in the partial sun. Set up an umbrella if you prefer not to get wet and enjoy having the place to yourself!
  • Still try to go to the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel: The Ferris wheel is a great way to get a bird’s eye view of the city and the beach – even if it’s raining. The enclosed gondolas will keep you dry and comfortable if it is not raining so hard and there is no lightning.
  • Focus on indoor attractions: Attractions like the Ripley’s Aquarium or Children’s museum will keep you dry and the temperature is always a comfortable 72 degrees, so you don’t have to worry about the weather outside.
  • Go shopping or hit the arcades: Hit one of the varieties of stores sprinkled throughout the area. These indoor shopping experiences still have great souvenirs and the latest fashions, but without having to be outside as much.

There are plenty of shops to browse, including souvenir shops, clothing stores, and art galleries. And if you’re looking for something to keep the kids entertained, there are plenty of arcades nearby, so you can split up and join up later on in the day.

No matter the weather, Myrtle Beach has plenty of activities to keep you entertained. From beach days to shopping and dining, you’ll find something to do. So don’t let the rain or the crowds keep you from having a great time.
