Even though you may never want to leave our coastal retreat, there are plenty of things to do in Clearwater’s charming corners if you do. There is something for everyone, including dining and shopping. Let’s look at a few of them.
Spend some time on the beach
If you’re looking for nearby activities, Clearwater Beach is the main attraction for some fun. It’s considered one of the best beaches not only in Florida, but across the country. The beach features powder-white sand, aquamarine water, and breathtaking sunsets.
Every day, this beach is a haven for swimmers, sunbathers, and water sports enthusiasts. You can take a half-mile stroll along the shore, or go diving, or surfing. The beach’s crowning structure, Pier 60, is the perfect place to watch the sunset. Many people come here to watch the sun set at the end of the day. Throughout the evening, you can enjoy free shows by musically talented jugglers, tightrope walkers, and fire-breathers.
Explore Clearwater Marine Aquarium
The Clearwater Marine Aquarium will make a lasting impression on you, whether you’re traveling with children or not. You can see rescued marine animals here, including sharks, dolphins, otters, sea turtles, pelicans, stingrays, and others.
By observing the dolphins and talking to those who walk through its halls, you can learn more about ocean preservation. It also offers cruises out into Clearwater Bay that are narrated by a naturalist. Additionally, the aquarium provides naturalist-narrated cruises into Clearwater Bay.
Explore Clearwater’s Art Scene
It’s worthwhile to explore Clearwater’s art scene. There are several performing arts centers in Clearwater, including Ruth Eckerd Hall and the Bilheimer Capitol Theater. Colin Hay, Men At Work, and John Waite are just a few of the artists who have performed at Ruth Eckerd Hall, which has also hosted acts like Orleans, Pure Prairie League, and Firefall.
The Bilheimer Capitol Theater, one of the oldest operating theaters in Florida, was built and opened in 1921 and renovated in 2013. The large mezzanine and vintage Hollywood theater-inspired decor of this historic building are striking features. You can visit and explore the theater and also enjoy a movie.
Whether or not you intend to see a performance there, stop by “The District,” the section of Cleveland Street that ends at the Capitol Theater. It’s a charming, pedestrian-friendly street with a few boutiques and top-notch restaurants scattered about.

There are numerous bars in the area that can satisfy any thirst for local brews. If you like good beer, you can hang out with friends or make new ones at the craft beer and wine bar, Clearwater Social Brew and Cork, a local brewery.
One of the popular beach bars to visit is Shephard’s Tiki Beach Bar. It hosts live performances by regional acts on a waterfront concert stage. Jimmy’s Crow’s Nest, which is located on the 10th floor of the Pier House 60 Hotel in Clearwater Beach, is yet another fantastic spot to sample some local brews and take in the stunning city views.
Enjoy delectable food and have a good time
There are also a variety of restaurants in Clearwater. However, if you’re staying in our coastal retreat, the nearest restaurants are Wildflower Cafe, Our Place Clearwater, and Alfano’s Restaurant.
However, you must visit Frenchy’s Rockaway Grill, the cornerstone of Clearwater Beach, to sample its delicious, well-known sandwiches. The restaurant’s menu is the ideal combination of Caribbean cuisine, beach views, vibrant rum drinks, and live local music.
If you love pizza, Clearwater has all-you-can-eat pizza joints to satisfy those taste buds. Papa John’s Pizza and Cici’s Pizza are places where cheesy goodness meets a contented wallet. Whether you’re after an authentic Margherita, a tasty vegan pizza, or a delicious pepperoni, you will find something delectable to eat.
The Palm Pavilion Beachside Grill and Bar, also on Clearwater Beach, is a fantastic place to eat to your heart’s content. You can sit here and savor tasty cocktails while taking in the magnificent sunsets. If you are in town on a weekend, the Clear Sky Beachside Cafe on the beach serves up the best brunch, complete with tasty cocktails.
If you are looking for great steakhouses in Clearwater, then look no further than E&E Stakeout Grill, Bascom’s Chop House, Kobe Japanese Steakhouse, Rumba Island Bar & Grill, and Carrabba’s Italian Grill. For someone who is constantly on the lookout for Premium meat cuts and sizzling steaks, these restaurants’ steaks will stick in your mind long after you leave them.
Immerse yourself in nature
There are many parks and public green spaces in Clearwater where you can unwind or go on adventures. Coachman Park is a well-known waterfront park close to downtown Clearwater and directly across from Clearwater Beach. It also serves as the venue for a variety of events, including the annual Clearwater Jazz Holiday.
Other great places to visit and explore are Moccasin Lake Nature Park, Enterprise Dog Park, and Phillipe Park. You can take a stroll through the parks on boardwalks and shaded trails, discover a lovely creek, and see a variety of wildlife, including alligators and birds.

If you have more time on your hands, you can explore the rest of Florida, especially Tampa, Bradenton, Orlando, and St. Petersburg. Tampa and St Petersburg are about a half-hour away from Clearwater, while Orlando is about an hour and half drive. Bradenton is also about an hour’s drive from Clearwater.
These cities boast a wide range of things to do and beautiful places to explore. They also feature miles of beautiful beaches where you can relax or indulge in a wide range of water activities. You can spend a day or two by exploring the wide range of attractions in each of the cities.
The Best Time to Visit Clearwater
There’s always something exciting happening in Clearwater, from music and food festivals to sunset celebrations. The Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival, one of our favorite events, takes place every year in the early spring. This two-week celebration honors Clearwater Beach’s sugary sands. The event is full of sand, sun, and fun.
Another exciting event is the Clearwater Jazz Holiday Festival. This popular festival has featured a wide range of talented international musicians for performances, including Gladys Knight. It takes place at Coachman Park every fall.
Other popular Clearwater events include the Bright House Clearwater SuperBoat National Championship & Seafood Festival, the Hispanic Heritage Festival, Sea Blues Festival, Tampa Bay Times Turkey Trot, Santa’s Holly Jolly Trolley Tour, and many others.
